The Community Closet: Dignity in every essential
When someone visits Hope Rooted for the first time, the Community Closet is the clearest example of who we are. It's a place where families can access clothing, hygiene items, water, baby essentials, and even pet supplies with dignity. This project represents our foundational commitment to meeting immediate needs and ensures families feel supported, seen, and never alone.
Expanding our impact: Programs for a stronger future
We’re working to grow beyond clothing drives by building programs that offer resource information, food distributions, free community events, local animal support, youth opportunities, job-readiness pathways, transitional housing support, and safe connections for domestic abuse survivors. Every project, past and future, reflects our commitment to meeting real needs in Central California and creating a community where families feel supported, seen, and never alone.
Direct impact: Meeting needs with dignity and care
Each project makes a clear, direct impact by giving community members what they need most — from clothing, hygiene items, water, baby essentials, and pet supplies through our Community Closet, to food support, resource guidance, and safe community events. As we grow, programs focused on youth opportunities, job readiness, animal support, housing, transitional housing, and domestic abuse survivors will help families find stability, safety, and hope. Together, these efforts strengthen Merced by meeting real needs with dignity and care.

After learning about our projects, we hope visitors will take action by donating items to our Community Closet or partnering with local stores to help us keep essentials stocked year‑round. Whether it’s dropping items in our Black Donation Bin at 1455 W 25th St or connecting us with businesses willing to donate clothing, hygiene products, water, pet supplies, or seasonal essentials, these partnerships and contributions make the biggest impact. Every donation and every new store partner helps us reach more families and expand the programs we’re building for our community.
